An interdisciplinary, international, and bilingual conference at the Université de Montréal exploring Randall McLeod's concept of 'transformission' – according to which 'texts are always transformed when transmitted' – in the context of early modern English and French cultures of translation. Papers will address the material transformations that accompany the translation of texts across linguistic, cultural, social or ideological boundaries in the early modern Anglo-French zone, making the transmission of texts a process of re-mediation.
