Friday, June 2, 2017   (0 Comments)

Dear Colleagues,

Did any of your students write an outstanding essay on Dante this past year? We invite you to encourage them to submit their essay for the annual Dante Prize or Charles Hall Grandgent Award sponsored by the Dante Society of America.

The Dante Prize ($500) is offered for the best essay submitted by an undergraduate enrolled in any college or university in the US, US territories, or Canada, or by anyone not enrolled as a graduate student who has received an undergraduate degree from a college or university in the US, US territories, or Canada within the past year. The Charles Hall Grandgent Award ($750) is offered for the best essay submitted by a student enrolled in any graduate program in the US, US territories, or Canada.

The deadline for submissions for both awards is June 30. For further details and submission guidelines, please refer to the following page on the Dante Society website:

All students who submit an essay for consideration will receive a free one-year student membership to the Dante Society, which includes a complimentary copy of our annual journal, Dante Studies.

Thank you for reaching out to your students and encouraging them to submit their essays.

All best wishes,

The DSA Prize Committee
